If your tile company travels to customers and does not receive customers at its business address, Google's guidance is to hide that address from customers and use an appropriate service area. A home used for paperwork or storing tools does not automatically become a public showroom.
The decision depends on how the actual business operates, not whether displaying an address seems likely to improve rankings. Review the current rules and your circumstances before changing the profile.
Identify how customers interact with the business
Google distinguishes businesses customers visit, businesses that travel to customers, and businesses that do both. A tile installer who estimates and works at customers' properties is different from a staffed tile showroom that also provides installation.
Ask whether customers genuinely visit the location during the stated hours, whether your own staff are there, and whether the location meets Google's signage and representation rules.
Use Google's business representation guidelines rather than assuming that a home address, occasional appointment, or storage space qualifies as a storefront.
Hide an address for the right reason
For a business that does not serve customers at its address, hiding the address represents the operation accurately and avoids advertising a private home as a place to visit.
Follow Google's address management instructions through the account authorized to manage the profile. Public display and information supplied privately for verification are different things. Hiding an address is not permission to give Google false details.
Keep the owner involved and preserve records of the correct business information. Profile changes can lead to verification requests, so do not make rushed edits without access to the business's legitimate documents and account.
Set coverage you can actually deliver
Use areas where your crew genuinely travels. A long list of cities does not create extra offices, new staff, or guaranteed visibility in each place.
Google's service area guidance explains how the areas are selected and the current limits. Check that source for the available controls instead of following outdated instructions about drawing a radius.
Coverage on the website should agree with how you accept work. If a distant job is considered only for a particular scope, explain that honestly rather than advertising routine service you cannot provide.
Do not replace a home with a fake office
A rented mailbox, mailing address, or virtual office is not automatically an eligible business location. Google has specific requirements for businesses using shared or coworking space.
Do not create a separate profile for every city where you want jobs. A service area alone does not establish another location. Genuine additional operations must qualify under Google's rules on their own facts.
This is also why a metro marketing page should not be mistaken for an office listing. Our market pages describe remote marketing coverage, not local storefronts.
Check the rest of the information
An address correction does not solve every visibility issue. Review the actual name, phone, website, business category, and service details.
The category guide explains how to choose the business type. The missing Maps profile checklist helps separate profile availability from weak visibility.
Keep a dated record of meaningful edits and any verification requests. Avoid repeatedly changing unrelated fields when the real problem has not been identified.
Questions about address visibility
Does hiding the address guarantee that I rank lower?
No reliable promise about your position follows from that change alone. Google's local results also depend on relevance, distance, and prominence. Follow the eligibility rules rather than choosing a false address as a tactic.
Can I make a new profile for each area I serve?
Not simply because you travel there. Google says a service area business can have one profile for the area it serves; genuine separate operations need to meet the relevant requirements.
What if I have a real showroom?
Check the storefront or hybrid requirements against the actual staffing, signage, customer access, and hours. An installer with a genuine customer facing location is not the same as an installer using a home only for administration.
Can More Tile Jobs review this?
Our profile management work considers accurate representation alongside services and the website. Request an audit with your public profile link. Do not send passwords or private verification documents through a general inquiry form.
